Ultracruiser On The Brain

You know, I keep coming back to this plane. First, it is all aluminum. Second, it has the easiest to ship materials. Also, It would survive a long build time without major issues.

It being an all aluminum plane is a great plus. It will be more durable in a lot of ways. Plus I have sheet metal experience. I also have woodworking experience as well, but most planes I've looked at require more cost in materials. If not because of the price of the woods and clothe, then because of the shipping cost to get them here.

The shipping is always a consideration. I know many a plane that would be a lot less expensive if you didn't have to pay freight level shipping because of the length of the aluminum tubing.

Build time is always a consideration. I will be doing it a little at a time as the wallet will allow the purchase of materials.

I'll probably post regularly on the progress if I can get started by finding a good used set of plans. I can't afford new at this time.

Anyone out there have a set that they will let go of for a deeply discounted price?
